About
Sick art for the chronically ill.
grippingTEA is the mixed media art of Jillian Molettiere.
In 2000, I began an exploration of delicate glass figures whose form was driven by internal emotion. Rather than focus on classical form, I create forms that represent the vulnerability within all humans regardless of race, gender, or social status. This has led to a population of individuals in a style that has become both personal and unique.
Some of the places I've shown work include SOFA Chicago/New York, Wheaton’s Glass Weekend, Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Italy, and the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts. You can find my work in numerous publications, most notably, The Penland Book of Glass and the Kinder Art Catalogue.
In 2006, I started The Lost Art Project, an ongoing public art project. Figures that accompany me in my travels are photographed in public spaces and then abandoned on location for the unsuspecting passerby.

MENTAL BLOCKS : The Mental Blocks series was born during preparations for my Mental Blocks of Time installation at the Delaware Center for Contemporary Art. With the help of cast resin, the series examines the human psyche and subsequent paralysis under the weight of a mental block, whether it’s for a second, a minute, an hour, a year, a lifetime. Mental Blocks capture a feeling frozen in time.
CRACK HAUS SERIES : The Crack Haus Series explores the nature of addictions, a recurring theme in my work. By using candy boxes as spaces, I refer back to the universal nature of sugar addiction.
Be sure to check back as there will be an ongoing variety of new work coming out. Thanks for collecting :)
